- These are generally attacked by termite or white ants.
- These termites are specially formed in moist condition.
- These white ants or termites are responsible for decay of timber.

There
are 2 types of termites
- Dry wood termites:
- It makes their house in wood in the form of tubes or tunnels.
- It obtained in dry wood areas.
- Basically it attacks on timber from inner side to outer side.
- Subterranean termites:
- It lives in soil there is favorable condition like moisture.
- It obtained in moist condition.
- Basically it attacks on timber form outer side to inner side.
