What are thermal insulating materials? Or Definition of thermal insulating materials
The materials which are insulating the sound are called sound insulating materials.

What are properties of sound insulating materials?
  1. It is porous in structure.
  2. Some time it made from loose composition of natural materials like artificial sand, slag, etc.
  3. It insulates and absorbs the sound.
  4. It used in form of liner and layer on flooring and walls.

Give names and situations where sound insulating materials are used?
  1. Acoustic tiles:
Properties:
i.        Sound absorption is uniform from tile to tile.
ii.                  Easy to fix.
 Uses:
i.        For smaller areas where acoustic treatment is necessary.
  1. Acoustic palster(APP):
Properties:
i.                    Excellent sound absorption.
ii.                  Suitable for small areas.
iii.                Good in decoration.
Uses:
i.                    Applied on ceiling.
ii.                  In libraries.
  1. Straw board:
  • In manufacturing of straw board main material is used wheat straw, rice straw or other corps straw. As made from agro waste material, it is eco-friendly material.
Properties:
i.                    Quick hard.
ii.                  High strength.
iii.                Fire proof.
iv.                 Damp proof.
v.                   Unlimited length.
vi.                 Adjustable thickness.

Uses:
i.                    In furniture manufacturing.
ii.      In various types of boards like drawing boards, acoustic broads, etc.
iii.                For interior decoration.
  1. Wood wool board:
Properties:
i.                    Light in weight.
ii.                  Hard surface.
iii.                Good thermal insulating.
iv.                 Economical.
v.                   Easy to install.
Uses:
i.                    For ceiling, wall cladding and flooring.
ii.      This product is generally used where high degree of sound insulating is need like recording studios.
