Principal Stresses
The normal stresses acting on principal plane is called as ‘Principal Stresses’.
In fig. 1 σx and σy are the principal stresses. They are also denoted as σn.
This is classify in to two types,
1. Major Principal Stress (σP1)
2. Minor Principal Stress (σP2)
