S. F. and B. M. Diagram

• Shear Force Diagram (SFD):

Shear Force Diagram (SFD) is graphical variation of shear force along the length of beam.

•Bending Moment Diagram (BMD):

Bending Moment Diagram (BMD) is graphical variation of bending moment along the length of beam.

➤Span of SFD and BMD is equal.

➤+ve SFD and BMD plotted above the baseline.

➤-ve SFD and BMD plotted below the baseline.

➤Location of zero SF and BM (Point of contraflexure) must be calculated from ends of beam.

➤SFD is drawn below loaded beam and BMD is drawn below SFD.
