What is linoleum? Or Define linoleum.
Linoleum is green material which made from natural materials like jute, powdered wood, cork, resin, and natural pigments on canvas base.
  • It popularly used for flooring purpose.
  • Some artificial linoleum produced from petroleum products which are harmful to our environment.
  • In this era due to increasing environment awareness this product is popularly installed in our home.
What are the properties of linoleum?
i. It has high thermal insulation.
ii. It is water proof.
iii. It is chemical proof.
iv. They are not attacked by bacteria.
v. They have good sound absorption property.
vi. It has good strength.

What are sizes of linoleum available in market?
i. 13”X13” (33.33cm X 33.33cm) with thickness 2.5mm.
ii. 20”X20” (50 cm X 50cm) with thickness 2.5mm.
iii. It available in roll sheet form i.e. 2m wide, 40m in length and 2.5mm in thickness.

What are the uses of linoleum?
i. It used to cover flooring of houses especially in cold regions.
ii. It used in hospitals, banks and public buildings because it is easy to clean.
iii. It used in theaters, assembly halls and auditorium due to its sound absorption property.

What is method of fixing of linoleum?
i. Remove dirt, debris and movable mater.
ii. Wash out by water cleanly.
iii. Apply adhesive on surface where we want to be fix the linoleum.
iii. Push back the linoleum and remove any excess adhesive.
iv. Place a heavy, flat object over the linoleum to hold the place.
v. Allow this to dry.
vi. Apply seam sealer to seams of linoleum.
v. Clean and maintain it.

What are the advantages of linoleum?
i. It is durable.
ii. It have uniform colour from top to bottom.
iii. It is eco friendly material.
iv. Easy to maintenance.

What are the disadvantages of linoleum?
i. It is difficult to install.
ii. It is more flammable.
iii. It is costly material.
iv. Less luxurious.
